Its here. The solution to Anti-socalism. Final design.

I’ve arrived at my final proposed design for the sociable furniture.

Here are some CAD representational models of the final design.

The design features a full meshed steel frame that provided three main functions, firstly it reflects signals. The waves are to large to pass through the 5cm squared extrusions. secondly it provided integral structural support and thirdly provides a beautiful aesthetic. The frame is made up of a total of three parts. Roof section, side section and seat section. this is easier to manufacture than forming the same shape from in one part. The three sections are then welded together during assembly.

It features a high density foam interior that is laser cut to the timeless pattern of the chesterfield upholstery aesthetic but with a modernist twist. The foam has more than one function also, firstly it provides comfort (of course) for the user. Secondly it absorbs background sound but maintains interior noise. This provides the user with disturbance free social opportunities. The foam is held in place using fixtures that clip on to the main frame structure, sandwiching the foam in-between.

The whole structure is raised off the floor by 5 Beech wood tripod legs. The legs fit into a steel bracket which is then welded to the main frame. The legs were inspired by Charles Eames styling.
